Special Guest at Disputed Histories Vol.03: FALSE TRUTHS
Daniel Cosentino, via a SOROS foundation grant, brings a class of Albanian Kosovars to participate/create collaboratively with artist Vahida Ramujkic's exhibition and series "Disputed Histories" at the 52nd OCtober Salon in Belgrade, Serbia. The work of the partipants included pre, during and post production. The experience has been discussed by some former students as life altering. Vahida won the exhibition laureate prize at the Salon that year.
"The disintegration of Yugoslavia initiates and finalizes with Kosovo. The differences in narratives between the Kosovo and Serbian versions are of the least transparent of all the spectrum of ex-yugoslavia. This might be due to language differences or to extremely bad political relations, resulting in Kosovo's official version never being considered or translated in Serbia.
The aim of this workshop will be to comparatively read, translate and discuss recent Serbian and Kosovo history textbooks from very personalized points of view, building on our life experience and in the context of international events that shifted our contemplation of historic events and truth. Eg. Before the wall, between the wall and the towers, after the towers."
